Most people think that once they have found a good ab exercise program, that is all they have to do and follow it blindly. Here is the first main misconception, exercising your abs just by doing ab exercises will not necessarily mean that you will have great looking stomach.

good absThe main problem is in the fat covering your abs, if you have loads of it, your great muscles under it won’t show in the way you probably would like them to show. So the main thing is to get your fat percentage lower, when you achieve this your abdominal muscles will show and you will have flatter stomach and maybe even a six pack abs.

The second misconception is about the exercising and workouts themselves. Everybody knows that if you want to get better ab muscles and to get them showing, you need to exercise. Then again, most don’t seem to know how much they should exercise and in what way. You don’t need to do hundreds of repetitions of ab exercises in your workouts, if you just want to get a little stronger and better looking abs.

Doing those long sets over 30 repetitions are just for muscle endurance which itself is good to be done once in a while, but to get bigger ab muscles you need to do short 15 – 20 repetition sets with some resistance so that you abs really need to do some work.
